Brief Biography

Londoner Joe Scott was all set for a career in nuclear engineering when he discovered art with a capital A at the ripe old age of 17.
Such was his instant enthusiasm for the palette and brush, his original career choice was thrown to the winds. Upon producing a hastily assembled portfolio, he was awarded a place to study architecture at the very last minute even though the new intake had been selected and admissions closed for that year.
Joe ran a successful architectural practise in east London for ten years, his work ranging from bathroom extensions to a West End theatre design, from 22 storey tower blocks to the first National Stamp Museum.
Marriage took him away from the East End of London to a rural existence living in an old water mill at the end of a long muddy lane on the Welsh borders where he proceeded to build a three bedroom house from foundations to roof virtually single handed. Annual sojourns to Rome and Sicily followed and finally, after endless diversions, he has returned to his first love - painting.
Joe has exhibited in England, Sicily, Rome and Wurzburg Germany.

Il londinese Joe Scott stava per lanciarsi in carriera come ingegnere nucleare quando scoprì l’Arte (quella con la A maiuscola) alla veneranda età di 17 anni..
Tale era il suo entusiasmo per la tavolozza ed il pennello che buttò al vento l’ingegneria e mise rapidamente insieme una cartella di disegni, che gli valse un posto dell’ultimo minuto per lo studio dell’architettura, nonostante che per quell’anno le iscrizioni fossero già chiuse ed i posti assegnati.
Conseguita la laurea Joe diresse per dieci anni un affermato studio di architetti nell’est di Londra, progettando opere che spaziavano dalla ristrutturazione dei bagni ad un teatro 'West End', da edifici a 22 piani al primo museo nazionale del francobollo.
Il matrimonio lo portò via da Londra per una vita rustica in un vecchio mulino ad acqua in fondo ad una stradina lunga e fangosa al confine con il Galles, dove si mise a costruire, dalle fondamenta al tetto e praticamente con le proprie mani, una casa con 3 stanze da letto. A quel tempo prese l'abitudine di soggiornare ogni anno a Roma e in Sicilia". Finalmente, dopo varie altre esperienze, è ritornato alla pittura.
Joe ha esibito le sue opere in Inghilterra, in Sicilia, a Roma e a Wurzburg (Germania).
